GGOS Bureau of Products and Standards (BPS)

The GGOS Bureau of Products and Standards (BPS) was formally established at the Fourteenth Meeting of the GGOS Steering Committee in December 2008 following a Call for Participation published in July 2008. The BSC is hosted by the Research Group on Satellite Geodesy (Forschungsgruppe Satellitengeodäsie, FGS) in Germany. It is jointly operated by Deutsches Geodätisches Forschungsinstitut der Technischen Universität München  (DGFI-TUM) and the Lehrstuhl für Astronomische und Physikalische Geodäsie (APG) Technische Universität München. Director of the BSC is Detlef Angermann (DGFI-TUM), deputy director is Thomas Gruber (APG).

The current activities of the BPS are based on and continue the work of the GGOS Working Group on Conventions Modelling and Analysis, which existed from 2005 to 2008. The Working Group was chaired by Hermann Drewes (DGFI-TUM).

The implementation of common standards and conventions for the generation of high-quality geometric and gravimetric products is of crucial importance for GGOS. The BPS supports GGOS in its goal to obtain products of highest accuracy, consistency, temporal and spatial resolution, and referring to a unique reference frame stable over decades.
